Research Interests:
My research concentrates on the development of new approaches to the management of lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies including the preclinical and clinical evaluation of new agents and combinations. In collaboration with basic scientists and other clinicians we are evaluating a number of new agents including the novel antitubulin agent, benzoylphenylurea and the cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor UCN-01. Approaches developed on the basis of laboratory work and early clinical trials at the University of Maryland have been taken forward into larger clinical settings including the Cancer and Leukemia Group B and the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group.

Currently, we are particularly interested in approaches that individualize chemotherapy for specific patients based upon variables including analysis of the tumor based upon circluating cancer cells as well as evaluation of tumor avidity for antineoplastic radiopharmaceuticals.
