My one month old son has been diagnosed with ASD, 4.1 mm. Are there any precautions that need to be taken while we raise him because of this?

Babies with isolated ASD usually have no overt symptoms and require no special handling while being raised. Often ASDs get smaller over time, depending upon the location of the defect on the atrial septal wall. In adults with ASD we don't recommend scuba diving. The most important thing to do is follow-up as instructed by your baby's cardiologist.
